The interesting patent of the week is from Lennox Industries. Their “smart thermostat” patent US11708983, “Error Correction for Predictive Schedules for a Thermostat,” is a device and method for correcting predictive schedules for thermostat settings and operation. Using multiple ways of determining occupancy status (e.g., movement of a user device, interaction with the thermostat, motion/proximity detection, voice commands), the device can predict future occupancy statuses. However, when the thermostat's predictions don't align with the actual occupancy, (maybe you're home when the prediction was that you'd be away) the system looks at past occupancy statuses at the same timestamps when these conflicts occurred. Using this historical data, the device adjusts its predictions. This helps the device's occupancy schedule to become more accurate over time, and to optimize its performance in regulating home temperature according to the actual presence of occupants.Lennox sells a suite of smart thermostat products with “Schedule IQ Technology” that, per their website, “uses homeowner inputs and Smart Away™ geo-fencing capabilities to learn your routine and create a schedule that maintains comfort when the home is occupied and help save energy when it's not.” So it appears that this patented approach is potentially already being used, or will soon be used, in their products on the market to help manage your comfort and save cost when appropriate.#patents #innovation #smarthome #energysaving #machinelearning #Lennox

How to make your home more energy efficient with technology. 💡👇 💡 Energy-saving power adaptors. These adaptors help save energy by cutting off power to devices when not in use or when they've finished charging. 💡 LED lighting. These lights run cooler and use less energy. 💡 Smart thermostats. Most are equipped with sensors that automatically adjust your home's temperature according to your lifestyle and schedule. 💡 Electricity use monitor. With these, you can determine the cost to run any appliance or device in your home over a set period. #ElectricalContractorsAssociationAlberta #ECA_AB

Every entrance has a lock, and every lock has a story. This is the story of the world's first wireless powered door lock. Alfred International Inc. has been making commercial and industrial grade door hardware for over 30 years. As the market shifted to smart lock technology, they noticed that most companies were continuing to produce traditional old designs or modern styles that failed to function like a quality lock. And so, Alfred made it their goal to produce the sleekest, smartest locks on the planet. But one of the biggest problems with designing sleek smart devices, is that they have little room for big batteries. And without big batteries or complex hardwiring, how can a sleek smart lock reliably stay powered? This is where we joined the story. Last year, Alfred released the first smart locks powered by Wi-Charge's long-range wireless technology. This means that Alfred can continue to focus on creating the sleekest and smartest smart locks on the market without worrying how to power them. And boy are these locks smart. The Alfred ML2 series are available with Bluetooth Connectivity, 250 RFID cards Memory, 250 Pin Codes Memory, Voice prompts in 5 languages, and more - all with Wi-Charge wireless over-the-air power option. These locks use either a standard mortise cylinder or standard KIK cylinder to allow them to be easily added to any key system you may already have. Zwave, Zigbee and Wi-Fi Connectivity are available add on's to support any type of smart system configuration. So, if you are tired of dealing with the hassles of hardwiring or constantly changing dead batteries in your smart locks, upgrade to Alfred today and experience the future of smart home security. Never worry about wires or dead batteries again! One of the steps to improve plant #sustainability is to reduce #energy consumption by optimizing LED lamp brightness based on ambient light and occupancy through continuous monitoring. This is achieved with #automation: automatic data collection using permanently installed #WirelessSensors for illuminance and motion. The light fixtures use motion and light level to optimize lamp brightness. The recommendation is to use a specialized lighting app with special features for lighting management including consumption analytics and together with illuminance and motion sensors to automatically collect the data required to optimize lamp brightness. By automatically dimming the lights, when possible, the energy consumption is reduced.Read full essay for recommendations for this solution and other sustainability solutions to complete a holistic transformation of work in the plant:https://lnkd.in/gjj9t5gXLike 👍 Comment 💬 Repost ↱ Click my photo then the bell to get updates 🔔#DigitalTransformation #IIoT #digitalization
